Am participat in data de 10 octombrie la o conferinta online despre leadership. Titlul era “Unleader like moments” si chiar despre asta a fost vorba. Multi, zeci de lideri din diverse industrii si diverse pozitii care impartaseau greselile lor de lideri dar si lectii invatate si sfaturi. Asa incat m-am gandit sa le adun pe cele care mi s-au parut mai interesante.
Despre leadership:
• Leadership starts with self-awareness.
• Leadership is about leading, even when it’s not convenient or on your timetable; even when it’s about problems you don’t have the desire to solve.
• Leadership is about character.
• Steady-calm has a real place in leadership—it invites people to participate.
Despre leaderi:
• If people are looking at you and coming to you as a leader, you should be acting as a leader.
• Trust your people, have clear guidance, and a clear mission for your organization, and then make sure your people feel motivated and good.
• If you’re in a lousy mood when you get to the office, stay in the car and get over it.
• Don’t create “us” (managers) and “them”.
• A situation where nobody is taking the lead means maybe you should.
• When you have an exceptional situation, don’t fight an old rule—think of how to create a new rule.
• Don’t try to protect employees—give them information and let them make informed decisions.
• People will join your team for the mission—but they stay for the relationships.
• Two words stand out in the definition of power: control and influence. Do you use or abuse your power? Are you leaning on your authority or on your influence?

• Profit is the applause that the companies get for taking care of their customers and their employees.
• Before giving negative feedback you need to have a personal relationship with that person.
• Conflict is sometimes healthy in bringing about change; don’t run from it, learn how to handle it.
• Listen and think what impact it has on you, what you can learn etc. Active listening is not enough. You need not only to learn how to listen, but to learn while you listen (listen to learn).
• People with humility don’t think less of themselves, they just think of themselves less.
• If I really learned from my mistakes, at this point I should be a genius!
